Flora indicativa
In 1977, Elias Landolt and fellow botanists published the book "Flora indicativa". It contains the ecological and biological characteristics of 5500 plant species from Switzerland and the Alps and became one of the most important reference works for Swiss and European botanists. For us, the book is an important resource for studying and drawing plants. It helps to understand how the plant grows and reproduces and to identify growth strategies such as life form, root depth or resistance organs. Without the book, we would not have been able to develop our language of plant drawing.
