Drawing a Plant Community
In April 2024, students surveyed a plant community on a 0.50 x 0.50 meter plot to better understand how plants live together and influence each other. The individual plots are located along a transect that we have already used for the soil sampling exercises. The survey method and the drawings are inspired by the vegetation survey method developed by Josias Braun-Blanquet, which involves identifying the plant species, estimating their coverage and translating the results to a drawing in plan and section.
